Lenovo Unveils New ThinkPad Laptop Line. Promises Better Processor, Battery, Screen

Computer manufacturer Lenovo has been able to sell over 100 million units of its ThinkPad laptops over the course of its history, and it seems that the company is looking to add even more to that number with the new laptops that it will be unveiling at the upcoming CES 2015 in Las Vegas.

ThinkPads started as a product by IBM in 1992, before the company sold its PC business to Lenovo back in 2004. Since then, Lenovo has claimed 20 percent of the PC market share, making it No. 1 in the entire world. Lenovo is also the third top company in the industries of tablet computers, smartphones and servers.

Lenovo has found success in its strategy of creating devices that adapts to its users. This strategy can be seen in action in the company's latest laptops, which have screens that can be adjusted for different purposes, such as either for entertainment or for making presentations.

In CES 2015, one of the new laptops that Lenovo will be unveiling is the ThinkPad X1 Carbon, a laptop that has a thickness of only 17.7 millimeters and a weight of only 2.87 pounds. Nicknamed Eve, this third generation of the company's X1 Carbon line features Intel's fifth generation Core i processors, a full WQHD or HD screen, up to 512GB of SSD storage, up to 8GB DDR3 RAM and over 10 hours of battery life.

The new ThinkPad X1 Carbon will be released within the month at a starting price of $1,249.

Lenovo will also be releasing the ThinkPad X250, which is the successor of the ThinkPad X240. Featuring the new Core processor, the laptop also has over 20 hours of battery life, but weighs in at 1.3 kilograms and at a thickness of 20.3 millimeters.

The ThinkPad X250 is able to support up to 512GB SSD or 1 TB hard drive for storage and up to 8GB DDR3 RAM. Prices for the device begin at $1,149, and it will be released in February.

New products added in the ThinkPad laptop line that Lenovo will unveil are the ThinkPad 450 and ThinkPad 450S, which succeed the T440 and T440S devices. The price for the ThinkPad 450 begins at $849 and at $1,099 for the ThinkPad 450S, both of which will also be released in February.

Lenovo will also be unveiling the ThinkVision X24, a 24-inch monitor for business customers that has a thickness of only 7.5 millimeters. The monitor has a contrast ratio of 1000:1, a full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 and inputs for both HDMI and DP. The price for the device begins at $250.

Lenovo will also be releasing a product series that stack on top of one another, serving as accessories for a laptop. Named the ThinkPad Stack, the product includes a 2x2 watt Bluetooth speaker with a noise-canceling microphone, a USB 3.0 1TB hard drive, a Wi-Fi hotspot access point and a power bank. The devices work with any laptop, with the pieces sold separately.
