Nest Wifi Review: Speedy Mesh Connection for Google Smart Homes

Nest wifi is an excellent network router system that has reliable performance, impressively fast speeds, stable steering of the band, and easy-to-use features. The range-expanding Nest wifi Points function not just as a router but as Google Assistant smart speakers as well. For someone who has been using Google products regularly, then this router is worth spending for, considering its speedy Internet connection at home.

This Google product is probably one of the easiest to set up and use. In a review made by CNET, Nest wifi was described as simple and easy to use, where you "plug it in, do what the app says, and in just 10 minutes, this mesh network is up and running." Indeed, 10 minutes are all it takes to have the wifi signal spread all over the house as fast as any household member can reasonably expect.

A follow-up to the 2016 Google Wifi Mesh System

Nest wifi is not a new product of Google. It is a follow-up to the Google wifi mesh system the company launched in 2016. And since this new router is a continuation of an already existing Google product, as expected, it is more capable and powerful. This powerful mesh system comes in various configurations, which start at $169, pledges a 25% improved coverage, and until twice the Google wifi system speed.

Not all feedbacks about the Nest wifi are positive. There are some flaws that Google needs to address. For the positive feedback, as repeatedly mentioned, this 2019 mesh system performs faster than the already-existing Google wifi. And, aside from its ease of use and secondary function as smart speakers, it also incorporates with "Nest smart displays" to efficiently manage a guest network. There are two drawbacks, too, of the Nest wifi. First is that you'll find only two jacks for Ethernet on the router, but there's nothing on the Points. Second, you need to access two apps to access several advanced features.

Wifi Performance

This latest innovation from Google wifi is packed with what Google calls "High-performance ML Hardware engine, the quad-core ARM processor." There is no clear explanation about what this performance means. However, since its launch, it's been a known fact in the tech world that the Nest wifi is set to use a machine that learns to enhance its performance over time.

And, since this one's a mesh wifi router, it is expected to perform with the best and most efficient network coverage. And, as for Google, the company is claiming that even if without the router, one can have up to 2,200 sq. ft. wifi coverage. And, if you spend on Nest wifi, and two points, you can anticipate a gigantic 5,400 square feet coverage.
