After some hints spread out over the past weeks, OnePlus has finally lifted the curtains on its TV. Surprise — it's called the OnePlus TV.
Much like any smart TV on the market, it comes with a suite of modern features such as Android TV support, 4K resolution, and more.
The OnePlus TV is a 55-inch unit with a 4K QLED panel boasting what OnePlus calls a "sleek minimalist design" and a "nearly bezel-less screen." It supports quantum dot color and both Dolby Vision and HDR10+, although OnePlus has yet to provide details on the technical side of things, such as what the TV's local dimming solution is going to be like.
OnePlus TV Q1 Specs
Broadly speaking, however, OnePlus says its TV fronts a color range that's best-in-class among fellow QLED competitors. As for connectivity, users will have plenty of options, with four HDMI ports on the back of the unit, built-in WI-Fi, and Bluetooth 5.0.
As mentioned, it supports Android TV out of the box and work with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, as well. OnePlus clearly thought about ways to integrate the smartphone experience into the TV experience.
As such, users can pair the device with the OnePlus Connect app, and in so doing can perform some neat tricks, such as input text and switch between Android TV apps and their smartphone. If they get a call on their phone, the OnePlus TV will automatically reduce the volume of content so they're not scrambling to do that while on the line. The TV also comes with built-in Chromecast support.
OnePlus TV Q1 Models
OnePlus plans to offer two different versions of the TV: a standard model and a "Pro" variant. Both are part of the Q1 series. The two models will cost INR 69,000, or about $985, and INR 99,900, or about $1407, respectively. Both units will come with a built-in 50 W soundbar that supports Dolby At most, only the Pro one has a sliding eight-speaker array instead of a static four-speaker setup. The Pro model is also the only model that'll ship with a stand.
OnePlus has yet to announce a U.S. release date for either models, but that's definitely on the cards. Last month, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau confirmed as much.
"We are also working hard to launch OnePlus TV in North America, Europe and China regions as soon as we establish partnerships with most of local and regional content providers," Lau said.
