It's official: Android Q — or rather, Android 10 — now has an expected public release date, and it's on Sept. 3.
That's according to at least two separate Google Support representatives.
Android Q, Android 10 Release Date
According to Phone Arena, two people from Google have confirmed that the Pixel phones will start receiving Android 10 on Sept. 3. The mobile news outlet uploaded screenshots of the chat logs with the Googlers.
It's safe to say that the Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL, Pixel 3a, Pixel 3a XL, Pixel 2, and Pixel 2 XL are all going to get the major update.
That's not all, though. The news website also mentions that even the original Pixel and Pixel XL are part of the mix, even though they're already past Google's promise of two years' worth of updates. In other words, it's nice to see that the OG Pixel phones aren't getting the cold shoulder from the Mountain View brand.
Other Phones Getting Android 10?
While the Pixel phones are more than likely to get Android 10 on that day, other devices that are part of Google's Android beta program are expected to get the major update soon after.
That said, the devices in question are the Asus ZenFone 5Z, Essential Phone, Huawei Mate 20 Pro, LG G8, Nokia 8.1, OnePlus 7 Pro, OnePlus 7, OnePlus 6T, OnePlus 6, Oppo Reno, Realme 3 Pro, Sony Xperia XZ3, Tecno Spark 3 Pro, Vivo X27, Vivo NEX S, Vivo NEX A, Xiaomi Mi 9, and Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G.
As for exactly when they'll receive Android 10, it's still up in the air. They'll probably start getting it sooner than most, since they're part of the beta program, which has already reached its final build earlier in August, after all.
Meanwhile, other devices that aren't in the Android beta program will likely have to wait for a couple of months more before they start getting the update.
