A new report has revealed just how much top streamers make.
As the platform becomes more and more popular by the day, publishers have begun using it as a marketing tool to bring more attention to their new games.
How Much Do Streamers Get Paid For Sponsored Streams?
According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, popular streamers stand to earn up to $50,000 an hour for playing new video games online. Talking Reed Duscher of Night Media Inc., which is a company that manages streamers, those who can get more than 15,000 simultaneous viewers can earn anywhere between $25,000 and $35,000 per hour. He says that publishers are in search of streamers who can garner an audience of that size.
The news outlet reports that among the publishers who are investing millions of dollars in this form of marketing include the likes of Activision, EA, Take-Two Interactive, and Ubisoft.
From any perspective, this practice is proving to be an effective method for publishers and the like to get more attention to their new releases.
"If you don't have live-streaming as part of your marketing spend, you're doing it wrong," John Benyamine, who works for a company that works to establish connections between publishers and streamers, tells The Wall Street Journal.
At that, companies such as Take-Two Interactive and Ubisoft are set to take advantage of the marketing tool as well for Borderlands 3 and Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint, respectively.
Streamers Earnings
Speaking of EA, the publisher of developer Respawn Entertainment's free-to-play battle royale Apex Legends that was recently launched in February, it partnered up with Tyler Blevins, who is better known as Ninja and is one of the most popular streamers in the world, not long ago. The streamer received $1 million for streaming the shooter when it rolled out.
Many other streamers were also paid to play Apex Legends, but they likely didn't get the same amount as Blevins did.
Blevins was also reportedly earning $500,000 a month for streaming Epic Games' wildly successful battle royale Fortnite.
