Off-contract Moto G is $30 cheaper on Verizon prepaid than on Boost Mobile

Following hot on the heels of Motorola's recent Moto X price drop, Boost Mobile has announced another affordable Motorola handset deal. Boost Mobile's version of the Motorola Moto G will retail at an attractive price tag of only $129.99. While this is a great deal, Verizon has an even sweeter deal in store for its customers. Verizon will soon be offering the Moto G, off-contract prepaid, for a mere $99.99.

Boost Mobile, which runs on Sprint network, is already selling the Moto G on its website as well as on the Home Shopping Network but its in-store release is scheduled for Jan. 14. On the other hand, Verizon will start selling the phone online starting this Jan. 9 while their in-store release will follow "in the coming weeks." However, the Verizon Moto G variant is now available at Best Buy stores.

For the price, customers will get a device with a 4.5-inch Corning Gorilla Glass screen, 1GB of RAM, a quad core 1.2 GHz processor and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. In addition to this, a 4.4 KitKat upgrade is possibly in the works. The device also allows users to swap the back plate for a change of color. The Moto G comes equipped with a rather modest 5-megapixel snapper. For a sub-$130 smartphone, however, 5-megapixels is a generous offering.

Boost Mobile will also include the NextRadio app bundled with the Moto G. According to the company, the app will provide "a new type of interactive experience" which is something people who like listening to music, will appreciate. However, the most interesting fact about the NextRadio app is that Boost Mobile claims that it is more battery efficient compared to other similar music apps and services.

As with most of Boost Mobile's offerings, the Moto G can be purchased without a contract with the carrier's special $55 monthly unlimited plan. Unlike other wireless carriers that focus on contract plans, Boost Mobile offers a number of incentives for people who pay for their services on time. With a set of 6 timely payments, users get $5 dollars off their unlimited plans. However, potential customers should note that the $55 plan bottoms out at $40 with a series of on-time payments. If you happen to miss a payment date, simply pay for current bill without worries since you won't have to start from scratch. All of your preceding and future on-time payments will still count.

Boost Mobile's $129.99 deal is a great price for the Moto G considering that the handset sells with a higher price tag in other countries. And, for customers who don't mind Verizon's terms, it's hard to beat the $99.99 offer.

Note, however, before you go rushing to grab Moto G, that the smartphone does not have 4G LTE radio and it does not have microSD card slot.
