Respawn Entertainment's Apex Legends is a certifiable hit among lovers of the battle royale genre. Naturally, they now plan to keep focused on its growth.
That means allotting more and more resources to it as they try and keep up with player demands. According to the game's executive producer, temporarily setting aside plans for other titles in the pipeline is even in the cards at this point in time.
According to a blog post on the official EA Games website, the team behind Apex Legends have already set their sights on the future. That is to say, they have laid out a plan that will hopefully allow them to nurture the game and its players as time passes by.
A Promise To Keep Improving
"We are 100% committed to the long-term growth of Apex Legends, and supporting the millions playing every day," said Drew McCoy, the game's executive producer. "So today we want to reset our commitment to you and give some insight into where we are as a development team and how we're approaching live service for Apex Legends."
As a result of their new plans to improve the overall experience for players of Apex Legends, the team at Respawn has decided to officially set aside their current plans for future games in the Titanfall franchise. McCoy said that they are doing this in order to fully support their highly successful battle royale game.
He was also quick to emphasize that work is still being done to develop a separate game called Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. A different development team, however, is tasked with bringing it to life.
"No resources from the Apex Legends team are being shifted to other titles in development here at the studio," stressed McCoy, "nor are we pulling resources from the team working on Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order."
As for what exactly is on the horizon for players of Apex Legends, McCoy mentioned a number of small changes that could lead to massive improvements.
A Taste Of Changes To Come
For starters, slow server performance at the beginnings of certain matches has been identified as one of the critical priorities for their team. Certain audio issues have also been picked out as highly problematic and in dire need of fixing.
The problem with cheating in the game is also being worked on, as it can greatly affect the gameplay experience of just about all kinds of players, from newcomers to pros. As a free-to-play game, Apex Legends has its fair share of cheaters in the game. As such, the team at Respawn is constantly working behind the scenes to catch them out and remove them from the game.
Finally, Respawn is also promising to add new content to the game with the objective of keeping things alive and thriving. Their team is said to be working with a detailed production schedule that is focused on quality rather than novelty or the simple ability to churn out updates as often as possible.
