BioWare has launched a new update for Anthem, but from the look of things, it couldn't quite deliver all it has promised as part of its Act 1 roadmap.
Understandably, players aren't okay with it.
Anthem Features Delayed
On Reddit, BioWare has confirmed that some features aren't going live just yet with update 1.1.0. Particularly, the anticipated Cataclysm event was left out, as well as the mastery system, guilds, phase two of the Legendary Missions, weekly Stronghold challenges, leaderboards, and some Freeplay events.
According to the company, the root of the problem is because it has been "talking about things too early," meaning it more or less overreached before. It also explains that there have been delays because of numerous factors, including bugs, player feedback, and "complications."
It should be noted that the new Stronghold called Sunken Cell and the ability to access the Forge anywhere, among other things, rolled out as part of the 1.1.0 update (full patch notes are available at the official website).
Anthem Players React
In response to the lacking Anthem update, players were quick to call out BioWare on the same Reddit thread.
"Honestly, I just want my money back at this point. I'm not returning. They didn't keep up their end of the promise and I think it's fair for them to issue good faith refunds," a user said.
"Well this was disappointing to say the least. Was hoping for a reason to come back and they gave me more reasons not to come back," another wrote.
Many pointed out how BioWare specifically said "early access release" in its statement, as the game was touted as a full release initially, after all.
"[Y]ou didn't do an early access release. You claimed you were releasing a finished product and you lied," a user wrote.
"This update was the final nail in the coffin. I was hoping to see a major turnaround, but at this point, I want my money back. They delivered a half-baked, barely functional product," another saTid.
Meanwhile, players also expressed their frustration on Twitter.
