Microsoft plans to unveil the first look at the multiplayer mode of Gears 5 this summer at a new eSports TV show.
The upcoming third-person video game is anticipated to be one of Microsoft's biggest game launches for 2019.
Gears 5 Multiplayer Mode Debuts In June
During an Inside Xbox episode on Tuesday, April 16, Microsoft confirmed the multiplayer mode reveal of the game is happening in June. The Redmond-based tech firm also announced that entered into a partnership with Eleague for the Eleague Gears Summer Series: The Bonds and Betrayals of Brotherhood.
Eleague is an eSports organization owned by Turner Broadcasting and WME/IMG. The company previously hosted several tournaments for video games such as Counter-Strike, Black Ops 4, Rocket League, and more.
"The Bonds and Betrayals of Brotherhood will provide an unprecedented look into the uniquely passionate world of Gears Esports through the lens of six of the most well-known professional players," Microsoft said.
"Over the six episodes, the series will explore each player's intense connection to the game as they navigate the transition between Gears of War 4 and Gears 5, balancing the untapped potential of new opportunities with the fallout from past decisions."
The six-part event series will also cover live tournament gameplay. The first episode of the show is scheduled on June 14, Friday at 11 p.m. ET on TBS and will debut the worldwide premiere of Gears 5 Versus multiplayer.
The Invitational
Eight Gears teams from around the world will join the tournament at Turner Studios in Atlanta. At the end of the season, the best teams will be heading to the final called The Invitational. The event will be streamed live on Twitch and on the B/R Live premium sports streaming service from July 13 to 14.
Microsoft officially confirmed that The Coalition's Gears 5 is in development during E3 2018. The game's single-player mode will feature the lead character named Kait Diaz.
According to Microsoft, the upcoming title boasts the "biggest, most beautiful Gears world ever created." It also has online co-op and supports 4K Ultra HD resolution.
Gears 5 is slated to arrive later this year exclusively on the Xbox One and Windows PC. It will be available through the Xbox Game Pass subscription service by then.
