Apple's New iPhone Ad Shows How Much 'Privacy Matters'

Apple wants its customers to know that their "privacy matters" by way of a new and humorous iPhone ad.

The Cupertino brand recently uploaded the commercial to its YouTube channel titled "Privacy on iPhone — Private Side."

'Privacy, That's iPhone'

In the 54-second video (as seen below), the words "privacy matters" kicks things off. They are then followed by a series of "no trespassing" and "keep out" signs. After that are scenarios where people are keeping to themselves, such as holding a private conversation.

The clip is also littered windows and curtains closing, padlocks being fastened, private documents being shredded, and the like.

"If privacy matters in your life, it should matter to the phone your life is on," it then says after going through the sequence of events, before ending things with "Privacy. That's iPhone."

Apple's CES 2019 Privacy Billboard

Privacy is a huge selling point of Apple products, and needless to say, this new iPhone commercial focused on it isn't the first of its kind.

At the 2019 Consumer Electronics Show, the company put up a massive billboard right across where the event was being held that reads, "What happens on your iPhone, stays on your iPhone."

It doesn't take a genius to realize it was taking shots at its competitors, such as Google.

FaceTime Bug

Apple is big on privacy, and it has been that way since time immemorial. In light of the new advert, it seems it wants to remind the world about it, especially after the recent FaceTime bug.

Back in late January, the issue allowed users to listen in on the person on the other end of the line even before they pick up the call. Of course, it's been fixed already via iOS 12.1.4, but nevertheless, it made a dent on the company's privacy-focused front.

Still, Apple does handle privacy well. It does consider it as a "fundamental human right," after all, according to its privacy page.
