Want To Watch The Marvel Movies In Chronological Order? Here's How

There's nothing quite like the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Even the James Bond films, while similar in number to Marvel's comic book blockbusters, didn't have a networked continuity like Marvel does. With plans stretching towards the end of the current decade, it's clear that Marvel's movie universe is only going to get bigger and bigger.

Even on its own, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a lot to keep track of, but looking at it from a chronological standpoint is even more confusing. There are so many time-skips and flashbacks that the only way the overarching story could be more convoluted is if Marvel introduced time travel (please don't). Making a straightforward story was never Marvel's intentions, that much is clear - but that didn't stop one fan from doing the impossible.

Michael Furth of The Comic Archive has done what previously seemed impossible: he went through all of Marvel's work (including Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the one-shot short films) and reorganized the Marvel Cinematic story into chronological order.

It's an overwhelmingly huge task. There's over 20 hours of footage alone, and that doesn't even include research time or editing. Basically, Furth had to put days upon days worth of effort into taking a tangled-up timeline and straightening everything out.

So, how can you watch the whole thing? Well - that's where things get complicated...

Due to obvious copyright troubles, there's no way for Furth to upload the entire video. Of course, even figuring out how to fit the videos online would be a huge task, but Marvel probably doesn't want someone re-cutting its movies and posting them online. The videos above are simply tutorials, references for how to cut together your own 'Marvel Omnibus'. While it's a shame that Furth isn't able to post his creation online, it's still nice that he did most of the leg work.

While it's a great experiment, actually watching the Omnibus probably isn't the best way to approach Marvel's movies. Even if the movies followed one character, there'd still be a lot of jumping around; trying to tie events from all of movies would likely feel like a jumbled mess. There's a reason that movies are edited the way they are, and it'd be a bit much to try and make sense of the entire Marvel Universe at once with no breaks.

That being said, anyone who gets the Omnibus up and running definitely deserves some kind of award for undying determination and loyalty.
