Nintendo's recent report reveals that it hit record sales in the United States during Black Friday 2018 weekend. The video game publisher made more than $250 million in sales from its products.
The Switch recorded a 115 percent increase in sales from the same shopping holiday last year. It seems that Nintendo's massively popular hybrid console still sells like hotcakes. That is mostly because of big video games that have been released for the Switch this year.
Here's a look back at the best video games that came out for the Nintendo Switch in 2018:
Diablo III
Diablo III initially launched in 2012, however, Blizzard Entertainment breathed a new life into the dungeon crawler action role-playing game with its release on Nintendo's top-selling console. The hack and slash title is still wildly popular among gamers, which is why Switch users should not also be missing out on playing this RPG.
The third Diablo game is acclaimed as the third best-selling game for Windows PC, selling a total of 20 million copies six years after launch.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
Nintendo has made sure to make the holidays much more fun for video game fans with the release of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for the Switch. Since its official launch on Dec. 7, the crossover fighting title is now the fastest-selling game in the history of the Smash series. This news came on the heels of NPD Group's claim that Nintendo is the "top-selling US publisher" in 2018.
"This performance should receive an additional boost from the December release of the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate game, which has become not only the fastest-selling Nintendo Switch game of all time but also the fastest-selling game in the Super Smash Bros. series," Nintendo revealed.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is also the biggest in the franchise with over 70 characters and plenty of features such as an incredible music player and a single-player mode. It has now sold more than 3 million copies in just 11 days, Polygon reported.
Pokemon Let's Go
Game Freak also developed the Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let's Go, Eevee! for Nintendo Switch. The role-playing video games were launched on Nov. 16. In the United States alone, these Nintendo Switch games sold more than 1.5 million units. This record, in fact, contributed to the increase of Switch sales by 115 percent during this year's Black Friday.
The Pokémon: Let's Go games offer players a more classic RPG experience that is quite enjoyable for both new and old players of Pokémon games.
Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Nintendo saw a whopping success with a tie-in launch of Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild with the Switch last year. Technically, this Switch-exclusive title came out in 2017, but it has remained on top until now.
As a launch title for the Switch, the action-adventure game garnered the prestigious The Game Award for Game Of The Year and other numerous awards.
According to The Verge, a video game has yet to beat the sense of adventure players experience from Breath of the Wild. Gamers get to test their survival skills within a mysterious world so big that they will still be playing this RPG for months.
