Another day, another Star Wars movie rumor, but this one is a little different. This latest rumor isn't about Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens at all. Instead, it's all about the mysterious spinoff film to be directed by Godzilla director Gareth Edwards.
For a while now we've heard about possible ideas for the two announced spinoff films. First it was a Yoda and Boba Fett. Then it was Han Solo. Then it was Rogue Squadron. Then it was bounty hunters. So which movie is actually happening, if any of them? Nobody knows for sure, but a new report from Making Star Wars points towards a young Han Solo movie being the first.
The report doesn't give out too many details. It simply states the film is about Han Solo, while also saying that Breaking Bad actor Aaron Paul is attached to the project in some form. So far there is no indication Paul will be playing Solo, but it's definitely possible.
The report goes on to detail that the official codename for the film is "Luminac Industrial Goods." Filming for the new film will use Pinewood Studios in London and may possibly overlap with the filming of Star Wars Episode VIII. The Edwards-directed spinoff will be moving into Pinewood once the next James Bond film, Spectre, finishes with the studio.
And that's all we know about the film, which is slated to release Dec. 2016. Edwards, a lifelong Star Wars fan, will be in the director's chair after his success on Godzilla, while the screenplay for the movie is being written by Gary Whitta (Book of Eli).
