Most serious gamers have an upward of 16 GB of RAM on their beastly machines, but typical folks who only do simple web browsing, word processing, and perhaps even some light image editing probably don't lug around that much memory on their devices.
As such, the Nubia Red Magic Mars is a notable anomaly in the sphere of smartphones, pushing the boundaries of memory further to 10 GB of RAM. With phones sporting 8 GB of RAM already seen as stretching it a tad bit too much, Nubia simply says, "Screw it" and outputs a phone with more RAM than most entry-level laptops.
The Nubia Red Magic Mars Is Made For Gamers
With that amount of memory, it's no surprise that the Chinese phone is made specifically for gaming. Users can even tack in a joystick attachment to either ends of the phone for more precise control while playing.
Of course, with great RAM comes a great processor. This bad boy sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chip, currently the industry's top-of-the-line performer. In addition, the device also comes with features for extended gaming sessions. Among them is the vapor cooling system that keeps the phone from overheating, plus a motor-based rumble system for more dynamic vibrations, and an RGB light strip that coincides with in-game action.
More Features For Gamers
Gamers will also find capacitive shoulder buttons on the device for additional controls — exactly like a regular gaming controller — and there are stereo speakers built in to complement the 2,160 x 1,080 LCD display. There's also a voice changer baked in the software, which some game streamers apparently like to use. A respectable 3,800 mAh battery keeps everything juiced up, which should help gamers squeeze plenty of game time every day.
As for the other specs, the Red Magic Mars sports an 8-megapixel selfie shooter, and a 16-megapixel camera on the back. It comes in red and black colorways and starts shipping in China on Dec. 7. There are three models to choose from: 6 GB of RAM with 64 GB of storage for CYN 2,699, roughly $390; 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage for CYN 3,199, roughly $460; and 10 GB RAM and 256 GB storage for CYN 3,999, roughly $575.
Unfortunately, it's not likely this phone will ever reach stateside, as with nearly all phones originating from China, so don't get too excited. In any case, check out Nubia's website for more information.
