Reynolds was just hired to play the role last May. He was set to play the character of rancher George Spahn in the Tarantino flick that is set in 1969 Los Angeles before the murders by Manson family. He was cast alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt.

Reynolds reportedly felt fulfilled after his movie The Last Movie Star where he played an old movie actor. Furthermore, he was also excited to work with Oscar-winning director Quentin Tarantino and was looking forward to more job opportunities.
