Prolific leaker Ice Universe released an image of what is said to be a Galaxy S10 prototype, revealing that the next flagship Samsung phone after the upcoming Galaxy Note 9 will narrow down the bezels even more.
News and rumors on the Galaxy S10 have already started to trickle in even before the Galaxy Note 9 is officially announced. The question now is whether the Galaxy S10 prototype with nearly no bezels is real.
Samsung Galaxy S10 Leaks As All-Screen Phone
Ice Universe tweeted a photo of a nearly no bezel smartphone, and Samsung fans immediately linked the image to the Galaxy S10.
The image reveals a nearly all-screen phone, with virtually no top and bottom bezels. The device looks like its screen-to-body ratio is even higher than the 93.8 percent offered by the Oppo Find X, which has no notch and pop-up cameras. The smartphone in the leaked image also appears to have a curved display as well as a Bixby button.
Ice Universe did not say that the image is of the Galaxy S10, so why was it linked to next year's Samsung flagship smartphone? This is because of the word "beyond," which is reportedly Samsung's codename for the device.
The Galaxy S10 is believed to be the first Samsung smartphone that will feature an in-display fingerprint sensor, as the feature will not yet be ready for the Galaxy Note 9. This will allow the nearly no-bezel design. It is unclear, however, where Samsung will place the front-facing cameras. Will they pop out of the smartphone just like the Oppo Find X?
Is It Really The Galaxy S10?
While there are signs that the image features a Galaxy S10 prototype, there are also some clues that say the device in the photo is not the Galaxy S10.
According to Android Authority, it is too early for an image of the Galaxy S10 to leak, as the first photos of previous Samsung smartphones only appeared at most two months before their official unveiling.
Even reliable Android Leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer, also known as OnLeaks, hinted that the image shared by Ice Universe is sketchy.
Lastly, on Ice Universe's Weibo page, the caption used for the image roughly translates to "This is the next step." The usage of the word "beyond" may just be coincidental, and the leaker is just showing how he thinks future smartphones will mostly look like.
Unfortunately, it will be a while before we can confirm if the Galaxy S10 will look like this, as the Galaxy Note 9 will come first.
