Disney, Nintendo To Team Up To Launch New Contest Centered On Nintendo Switch

Young Nintendo gamers are about to have the opportunity to showcase their gaming skills in front of both a nationwide and streaming audience.

Introducing 'Nintendo Switch Family Showdown'

Nintendo has teamed up with the Walt Disney Company for a one-time-only contest will highlight players' abilities to play video games called the Nintendo Switch Family Showdown. The contest is expected to pit four families from across the country against each other. The families would have to showcase their gaming skills in a family-friendly competition.

Some of the games that the four families are expected to play are Super Mario Odyssey, Mario Tennis Aces, and Just Dance 2018. The families will enter Super Mario Odyssey's Mushroom Kingdom and various worlds to collect objects that would help Mario and his new friend, an anamorphic Cappy, try to stop Bowser and his minions and save Princess Peach. They would also face-off in tennis matches in one of Mario Tennis Aces' fields and will compete in dance battles to some of the top songs in Just Dance 2018.

Before anyone gets an invitation to compete in the contest, families must send in a video that creatively showcases why their family is Nintendo's ultimate fans. Four families would be awarded a trip to Los Angeles where they would tape the contest. In addition to appearing on the contest, it is expected that the families will have the opportunity to meet several of Disney Channel's stars.

To be eligible to compete in the contest, families must have four people in their group. Also, the families must have one family member between six and 18-years-old to compete. The contest concludes on July 1. It is expected that Nintendo Switch Family Showdown will air on the Disney Channel, Disney XD, and be streamed on the DIsneyNOW app in August.

"The Nintendo Switch Family Showdown, is a contest open to families to enter for a chance to compete as one of four selected families featured in sponsored interstitials. While the content will be featured on Disney Channel, Disney XD and on the DisneyNOW app, it is a one-time only contest, not a new series. Nintendo's Mario Tennis Aces video game on the Nintendo Switch system, is a sponsor of the 2018 Radio Disney Music Awards," said a Nintendo of America spokesperson.
