Probably everyone has been on that unfortunate situation where they wish they hadn't sent a message to a person, be it a full-on confession of love, drunk texts, or something else that's equally regrettable.
Good thing Snapchat now gives users a way to "unsend" messages — that is, delete them before they're seen by the recipient.
It appears the company has started rolling out the said feature to some people, but all users should have it within the next few weeks. Until now there's never been a proper way of deleting messages from both the receiver and sender's side. It's a late but welcome change. Facebook Messenger, for comparison, lets users delete messages — but the recipient will still be able to see them nevertheless.
How To Unsend A Message On Snapchat
To delete a sent message on Snapchat, press and hold on the text, audio, photo, or applicable content, and choose "Delete" from the pop-up menu. Another popup will appear as a confirmation, so tap the red "Delete" if you really want to get rid of the message.
As 9to5Mac notes, the receiving party still gets a notification that something was sent to them, but as long as they didn't get a chance to open it in the first place, they'll never know what it was.
To try the new feature out, make sure to download the latest version of Snapchat on iOS or Android.
Snap Spectacles
In related news, Snap Inc. has also announced that it's bringing second-generation Spectacles to Amazon, which should make them far easier to purchase than the first iteration. The older model, which was sold exclusively through pop-up stores and vending machines before being sold online later on, is also available from Amazon.
The Spectacles are a pair of sunglasses with a built-in camera that records content which can be shared to Snapchat. It marks the company's first-ever venture into hardware. The second-generation Spectacles are slimmer, water resistant, and able to take photos instead of just video. It launched exclusively on the Spectacles website, but should be available to buy from Amazon now.
The new Spectacles cost $149.99, available in Onyx Moonlight, Sapphire Twilight, and Ruby Daybreak. They're probably the perfect summer accessory for Snapchat addicts out there.
Do you own Spectacles? Would you ever buy one? As always, if you have anything to share, feel free to sound them off in the comments section below!
