Crackdown 3 Delayed Again To 2019: Another Misstep For Xbox One Vs PlayStation 4

The Crackdown 3 release date has reportedly been delayed again, and if the rumor is true, it will be another blow for Microsoft's attempt to push the Xbox One over the PlayStation 4.

Crackdown 3 was first announced in E3 2014. Four years later, Xbox One owners who have been looking forward to the third installment in the over-the-top action series may have to continue waiting.

'Crackdown 3' Delayed Again

Microsoft rolled out an intense Crackdown 3 trailer starring Terry Crews at E3 2017, once again unveiling the game. The Crackdown 3 release date was supposed to coincide with the Xbox One X launch in November 2017. However, the Crackdown 3 launch was pushed back into spring 2018, as the development team wanted more time "to deliver the right experiences" for every part of the game.

A report by Kotaku now claims that the Crackdown 3 release date will again be delayed, this time into 2019. The information was relayed by two sources familiar with the situation, who wished to remain anonymous to protect their careers. It is unclear if Microsoft is planning to announce the Crackdown 3 delay at E3 2018.

Microsoft is giving the development more time to make sure that Crackdown 3 is a success, according to the sources. In addition, moving the Crackdown 3 launch into next year will allow it to avoid the highly anticipated Red Dead Redemption 2, which will launch on Oct. 26.

Xbox One Vs PlayStation 4: The Battle Of Exclusives

One of the reasons why the PlayStation 4 has remained on top of the video game industry is its list of exclusives. The Nintendo Switch is following this formula with titles such as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and the upcoming Super Smash Bros. Xbox One exclusives released this year, namely Sea of Thieves and State of Decay 2, have failed to impress, in comparison.

Crackdown 3, which will also be released for the Xbox One X, was supposed to help generate interest and drive up sales for "the world's most powerful console." With another delay, it remains to be seen whether Microsoft will have something up its sleeve for E3 2018 that will attract players to the Xbox One.

Sony, on the other hand, will be banking on its exciting list of PlayStation 4 exclusives for its E3 2018 Showcase. Instead of rolling out several trailers, the keynote address will focus on four games, specifically Death Stranding, Ghost of Tsushima, Spider-Man, and The Last of Us Part II.
