The God of War Collector's Edition for the PlayStation 4 contains a secret in the cloth map that it comes with, namely an elaborate puzzle that leads to a hidden item.
The reviews of God of War have been overwhelmingly positive due to various reasons including the transformation of Kratos from a raging warrior into a father figure and the lack of loading screens for seamless action.
Things like a hidden secret in a physical map only add to the awesomeness of God of War for the PlayStation 4.
God of War Cloth Map Hides A Secret
The cloth map found in the God of War Collector's Edition is apparently not just an aesthetic piece as gamers have discovered that it also contains a puzzle. There may be some spoilers ahead as the solution touches some plot points.
The map shows the many realms of God of War, plus the Lake of Nine. Some gamers, however, noticed that there were runes written on the scales of the World Serpent. YouTuber BRKsEDU, using the rune alphabets in the game, translated the writings into a riddle about the Dwarven blacksmith brothers Brok and Sindri.
The first part of the puzzle narrates the falling out between Brok and Sindri while the second part reveals the location of the treasure that they fought over. Gamers, however, were stumped on finding the landmarks referred to in the puzzle.
Redditor SkipOneEBR noticed another clue on the map. The left and right sides contained either a B or S, followed by another letter of either N, S, E, or W. Following the directions for Brok and Sindri, he figured out that their paths ended at the Muspelheim Tower.
By going to the Muspelheim Tower and following the directions in the puzzle, players will be able to open a rift that leads to a pommel for Kratos's Leviathan Axe named the Forbidden Grip of the Ages. The relic increases all of the stats of Kratos, and powers up his R1 combo by adding a concussive wave at the end.
