It's the most wonderful time of the year -- the Steam Holiday Sale is here! From now until Jan. 2 you can snag some great deals on all the video games you've kept your eye on all year long.
Like in years past, new featured deals will appear every day of the sale, and another set of deals will rotate out every 12 hours. Steam users can also vote for what games they want to go on sale through the community choice portion of the sale. Every day users can vote for one of three games to go on sale. The game with the most votes will then be heavily discounted. Voting every day will also snag you a Holiday Sale 2014 trading card that can go towards crafting the Holiday Sale 2014 badge, if you care about that sort of thing.
So what is on sale the first day? Dark Souls II is getting a deep discount at 63% off, putting the hardcore RPG at $14.79. Zombie title State of Decay is 75% off and is only $4.99. You can also grab the strangely popular Euro Truck Simulator 2 for 85% off at the price of $3.74. All these deals will last until noon tomorrow, but will likely have an encore sale.
As for the 12 hour deal section, you can pick up the dark fantasy stealth title Styx: Master of Shadows for $14.99, Microsoft's Flight Simulator X for $4.99 and the ultimate edition of DC's fighting game Injustice: Gods Among Us, also for $4.99.
Even if the games you want aren't yet on a featured deal, chances are they are still discounted some. But word to the wise: wait to see if your game of choice will become a featured deal before buying it. These are digital copies we are buying here -- Steam isn't going to run out of stock. If your desired game never makes the featured deal, then you can go ahead and buy it on the last day of the sale and save a few dollars. Happy shopping!
