Far Cry 5 is officially out for almost a week now and some experts share their comparison videos between the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
It is usually the case every time an AAA title comes out so that gamers have an idea as to what console delivers the best experience. Normally, it is not being compared to the PC version, where expensive rigs can go beyond what was intended by the developers.
Parity in graphics, performance, resolution, and more are the elements used for comparison.
Experts Compare The Games
The gaming folks at Digital Foundry are known for detailed comparison when it comes to video games and they recently took Ubisoft's latest installment for a spin. Readers should know that before the tests were done, there was already a presumption that the Xbox One X's hardware should put it on top against the other platforms.
However, their findings suggest that the game will run and look good on any console that the user plays it on. Meanwhile, out of all the consoles included in the comparison, only the Xbox One encountered frame rate drops during intense battles with multiple characters
Graphics And Resolution
According to their comparison tests, Far Cry 5 features a perfectly balanced graphics system that gives it both realism and great textures. The group noted that Ubisoft most likely used the same technology to develop for Assassin's Creed: Origins, ging it a visual polish.
The team observed the graphics on both the Xbox One X version and the PlayStation 4 Pro. It noted that both platforms featured the same pop-ins, texture filtering, and texture assets. Therefore, owners should not really worry about graphical parity when it comes to their respective game systems.
Meanwhile, there is one aspect in which the Microsoft's console presents a noticeable advantage over Sony's console. Since the open-world shooter does not feature dynamic resolution scaling, the current-generation consoles like the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One manage to run the game with a 1920 x 1080 resolution.
This is followed by the PlayStation 4 Pro, which can push the resolution up to 2882 x 1620. Finally, The Xbox One X comes out as the clear winner with its 3840 x2160 native 4K resolution.
Unexplained Caveats
Strangely enough, even though Far Cry 5 is clearly best-played on the Xbox One X when it comes to presentation, Ubisoft might have overlooked some anomalies that were left in-game. There were some missing textures on certain parts of the map that were not observed on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro, and Xbox One.
Furthermore, some screen tearing problems on the map screen, which are again only seen on the Xbox One X. According to sources, these do not exactly affect gameplay, however, and could be fixed in a future update.
