With both Microsoft's Countdown to 2015 Sale and Valve's Holiday Sale starting up, Sony has to keep its ongoing PlayStation Holiday Sale enticing to fans who may start to look elsewhere for deals. The first half of the sale is already behind us, but that doesn't mean Sony's out of ideas: some of the sale's biggest deals just hit, and for PlayStation owners, there's really no better place to go.
As detailed on the official PlayStation Blog, the third week of the sale continues to focus on the connectivity between the PlayStation home consoles and the handheld PlayStation Vita. If you own both a PlayStation 4 and a PlayStation Vita, the handheld can be used as a second platform: essentially, gamers are no longer tied to the TV if they want to use their PlayStation 4.
In terms of titles, it's another big week for the sale. Games like Child of Light, Metro Redux and Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition are all roughly half off, and that's just the start. Don't Starve, Counterspy, Hotline Miami and Flower have all been discounted as well, and most of these titles support Cross Play between the PlayStation 4 and Vita.
While those other titles are great, the biggest surprise of this week's sale is Activision's Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. The Call of Duty games rarely go on sale (regardless of platform), and to see the newest game in the series for only $45 this close to release is almost unheard of. If you've been waiting to play Advanced Warfare, now is the time to buy.
Of course, games aren't the only thing on sale this week: Sony has added even more movies and TV shows to the list. Films like X-Men: Days of Future Past and How to Train Your Dragon 2 are now on sale, as are TV shows like Family Guy and The Big Bang Theory. It should be noted that, while the game sales are limited to one week only, the movie and TV deals last until Dec. 29, so don't worry if you can't make it this week - the same deals will be available until the end of the month.
Its competitor's sales may be starting up this week, but that doesn't mean Sony is about to be overshadowed. If the last batch of sales are anything like previous weeks, PlayStation owners are in for some major deals.
