Epic Games confirms its plans to add in-game replay tools to Fortnite Battle Royale. This system will make it easier for players to share content.
Currently, the only way gamers can record and replay footages from matches or in-game activities is via third-party software or capture cards. These are some of the things an average user might not want to invest in unless they plan to create and stream gameplay content online.
Although the developer did not specify an exact date, it assured fans that it will become available shortly.
The Importance Of Replays
Most gamers may assume that a replay system is just a great way to check out or upload a highlight play during a match. Yet, most professional gamers reportedly depend on replays to learn from their mistakes and discover the weaknesses of their opponents.
For example, the Overwatch game has an option to toggle the Kill-Cam on or off. Majority of casual players prefer to keep it off as it is somewhat humiliating to see how their avatars died at the hands of the enemy.
Meanwhile, the good ones prefer to have it activated to see where they went wrong and avoid any actions that could cost them the game.
Making Its Debut
Ever since its release, Fortnite Battle Royale has already surpassed multiple milestones that saw it eventually surpass PUBG. Industry critics credit its ongoing success to the relentless post-launch support delivered by the studio.
The recently revealed in-game replay tool and live recording system is further proof that the company wants to please its fans. These new tools will actually be available for all developers using the Unreal Engine platform once version 4.20 becomes available.
Epic Games officially revealed this information during its "State of Unreal" presentation at GDC 2018 this week.
During the presentation, a demo of the game's new features was showcased with the help of Alastair Aiken, a YouTuber known as Ali-A. Judging by the footage, the developer is giving gamers in-game camera controls and editing tools packaged in a streamlined interface.
Availability On Different Platforms
Earlier this month, Epic Games revealed its plans to bring a cross-platform gameplay for Fortnite Battle Royale. However, it was still unclear whether or not the announcement confirmed a cross-play between PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Meanwhile, the upcoming version 4.20 update confirms that the live recording and replay system will launch at the same time for the PC and consoles. The game studio has yet to confirm if the mobile phone versions of the game will also receive a similar treatment.
