League of Legends hypes up the gaming fans with an anime-inspired cinematic trailer featuring the new Gun Goddess Miss Fortune skin. The new skin arrives with Patch version 8.6.
Gamers had expected to receive the new update earlier this week, but an unforeseen "emergency issue" prompted Riot Games to delay its release globally. The exact details about the problem were not officially disclosed, but according to sources, it could be related to server problems for Japan and Oceania regions.
The official announcement did not specify an exact turnaround time and only encouraged users to continuously check the MOBA's Service Status Page for updates.
Making Animation A Tradition
The latest Ultimate skin is not the first in-game content that received an animation treatment. Sources recall that God Fist Lee Sin was made the star of what looks like a fan-made animation last year. Nevertheless, it is apparent that the Payback is a Goddess anime trailer for the red-haired bounty hunter screams quality.
It might even become a thing for the developers to randomly come up with trailers for new content and showcase different animation styles to market the product.
Fan Reception Then And Now
A few weeks ago, The League of Legends Reddit community closely weighed in their opinions when the Gun Goddess Miss Fortune Ultimate skin debuted. It seems that players are very difficult to please as several complaints were posted regarding the upcoming content.
Fans pointed out issues that involve elements such as walking animations, color schemes, and more. Furthermore, despite their mixed opinions, it seems that almost everyone believes that Riot Games did not come up with a design that is as unique as the older Ultimate skins.
Meanwhile, there are those who cannot understand why people choose to complain when the skin features four different forms, which come with their respective ability animations and all new weapons.
Her various exosuit configurations are showcased during the anime trailer as she shifts into a different one throughout combat.
A Little Backstory
To keep its fans interested, the developers often include a short description about the Ultimate skins. As expected, it also included one for Gun Goddess Miss Fortune along with the anime trailer.
"Ten years ago, a great civil war stretched across the galaxy. A brilliant scientist created blueprints for a superweapon that could end the war: The exosuit. That man was the founder of Fortune Industries. When his comrades discovered the exosuit plans, they wasted no time murdering him. He was survived by his only daughter, who they shot and left for dead," read the description.
"Over the years, she acquired four exosuits, became the notorious bounty hunter known as the Gun Goddess, and swore vengeance on these traitors. Now she's ready to collect the debt she's owed," it added.
League of Legends players can grab the new skin for 2,775 RP, which is lower than the usual price set by Riot Games for past content releases.
