A teenage boy in Indonesia claims to have been laying eggs since 2015. There's also a video of him laying an egg in front of doctors.
Medical experts don't know why the boy is laying eggs.
Human Hen
At 14 years old, Akmal Rusli claims that he has been laying eggs since 2015. A quick search online seems to corroborate the story with a video of him laying an egg in front of the camera. Akmal says that he has laid 20 eggs in the last two years.
Akmal lives in Kabupaten Gowa, in South Sulawesi province. He was hospitalized for his unusual ability. He had been complaining of stomach pain.
Doctors haven't been able to determine what is happening to Akmal. X-rays were taken of his lower abdomen, showing he had two eggs still inside his body. Once the x-rays showed that the eggs were still lodged inside of his body, the eggs were removed after some difficulty. Both eggs were removed with the shells still intact.
Doctors don't seem to believe Akmal's story about the eggs developing inside of his body. They think this isn't happening naturally.
"Our suspicion is that the eggs were deliberately shoved [into Akmal's rectum]. But we did not see it directly," said Muhammad Taslim, spokesman for Syech Yusuf Sungguminasa hospital. "Scientifically [chicken] eggs cannot form inside the human body. It's impossible, especially in the digestive system."
Akmal is being placed into quarantine to figure out what is happening to him. Medical personnel want to see if it's possible that Akmal may be putting the eggs up his rectum.
Doctors at the facility previously examined Akmal two years ago when he claimed to be laying eggs. Akmal's father denies the claim by giving a response that shows that he doesn't understand the situation.
"He never swallowed eggs whole, why would he do that?" said Akmal's father.
He is still hopeful that doctors will get to the bottom of his son's situation.
Not The First Time
This isn't the first time that a person has claimed to be laying eggs. This isn't even the first time that it's happened in Indonesia. A man in Jakarta had also claimed to be laying eggs, and when examined by a veterinarian, it was found that they were just chicken eggs.
The veterinarian said that the eggs couldn't have possibly come out of the man. The eggs that were examined were two weeks old and were close to hatching.
