The new Snapchat redesign recently went live for all users, however, it stirred huge criticism and numerous users are calling for the old design back.
The new design first rolled out in November for a limited number of users, aiming to make it easier to use. Snap issued a wider rollout a few days ago and the new Snapchat redesign reached all users, sparking a massive backlash.
Snapchat Redesign Sparks Backlash
Users are fuming about the new Snapchat update and they're urging Snap to revert to the old version of the app. A petition on Change.org is also making rounds, aiming to determine the company to roll back the redesign, and more than 670,000 Snapchat users have already signed it.
Users have flocked to various online platforms to rant about the latest Snapchat update and the biggest complaint is that it's far more disorganized now. The redesign now puts Snapchat Stories and Friends on the same page while combining various content from publications and public figures into another section.
The Snapchat redesign might not seem so bad for users who are just now trying out the app, but existing users find it annoying, confusing, and cluttered. Users can't find what they're looking for and although the update was designed to make the app easier to navigate, users complain that it achieved quite the contrary.
Petition To Get The Old Snapchat Back
"With the release of the new Snapchat update, many users have found that it has not made the app easier to use, but has, in fact, made many features more difficult," states the petition. "There is a general level of annoyance among users and many have decided to use a VPN app to go back to the old Snapchat, as that's how annoying this new update has become."
The description goes on to add that many of the new features in this update are either useless or go against what Snapchat achieved so far. The petition aims to convince the company to revert the app to the 2017 version before this update.
Snap: You Just Need Some Time To Adjust
Snap, on its part, says that disgruntled users just need some time to adjust to the changes, but overall it's "pleased with the initial results."
"There is a lot of work ahead as we optimize the updated application, but our early observations support the thesis behind the new architecture and the many growth opportunities that it provides," adds the company.
In other words, it seems unlikely that this petition will determine Snapchat to revert to the old version of the app, but nothing's impossible.
