The Xbox One version of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds recently reached 4 million players. PUBG Corp. will celebrate the milestone by giving away a truckload of Battle Points to everyone.
It appears that there is still no limit to the growth and popularity of PUBG, as the Battle Royale-inspired multiplayer shooter also broke its own Steam record early this month.
PUBG Xbox One Reaches 4 Million Players
PUBG Corp.'s lead community manager Sammie Kang, through an official Xbox Wire post, announced that the number of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds players on the Xbox One has grown to over 4 million players. The milestone was achieved after less than two months since its mid-December release.
To celebrate the achievement and to show appreciation for the support and feedback from players, Kang said that everyone will be awarded 30,000 Battle Points, which is the game's currency for purchasing loot crates that contain cosmetic upgrades. The bonus BP may also be the developer's way of apologizing for the somewhat troublesome launch of the game on the Xbox Preview Program.
All PUBG Xbox One players who have purchased the game and created a character before 12 a.m. PT on Jan. 31 will receive the reward. This means that Xbox One owners still have time to buy PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds to be eligible.
The free BP will be credited to players after 12 a.m. PT on Feb. 1.
What's The Best Way To Spend 30,000 Battle Points?
For PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds players, 30,000 Battle Points is a huge deal. That much BP translates to a good number of loot crates, which contain cosmetic items such as jackets, shirts, pants, hats, and more.
However, the cost to buy a loot crate increases after each purchase, with players allowed to buy a maximum of six loot crates per week. The first loot crate costs 700 BP, but the sixth loot crate costs 7,000 BP, for a total of 21,700 BP for six loot crates in a week.
With 30,000 BP, players will be able to buy the maximum number of loot crates in a week and have 8,300 BP left over to buy three more in the following week, for a total of nine loot crates from the Battle Points giveaway.
However, PUBG players on the Xbox One who would like to get the most out of the free BP can choose to buy only one loot crate per week. This would translate to a far bigger haul of 42 loot crates, with the downside that players will have to wait 42 weeks to complete the benefits of the bonus BP.
Of course, it is up to players how they would want to spend 30,000 BP, though some players may want something else instead of the free Battle Points.
