Another year of gaming has gone by, and now it's time again to find out which games won the hearts of most players.
Sony just revealed through the PlayStation blog its most downloaded games in the previous year, showing titles for the PS 4, Vita, VR, the Classics, and even themes and add-ons.
According to Polygon, the games and other downloadable content were not ranked in terms or revenue but rather those that were most downloaded by gamers.
The list was what many gamers would expect, with Call of Duty taking the lead, followed by Destiny 2. However, there were several titles that made a surprise appearance at the top.
The Winning Games
The most downloaded PS4 titles in 2017 included Grand Theft Auto V, Horizon Zero Dawn, Call of Duty: WWII, Destiny 2, and more. Check out their ranking below:
1. Call of Duty: WWII
2. Destiny 2
3. Friday the 13th: The Game
4. Horizon Zero Dawn
5. Grand Theft Auto V
6. NBA 2K18
7. Rocket League
8. Minecraft: PlayStation 4 Edition
9. Madden NFL 18
10. Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands
Sony also revealed the top downloadable content gamers picked up last year. Call of Duty Black Ops III: Zombie Chronicles claimed the top spot. Destiny 2 Expansion Pass came in next, followed by Call of Duty: WWII Season Pass. Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds also made the list along with Diablo III: Rise of the Necromancer. The rest of the list included some Tom Clancy and Call of Duty downloadable content.
The PS4 themes list was a mixed bag with the Legacy Dashboard theme taking first place. The Assassin's Creed: Origins Dynamic Theme was also a hit, as well as several The Last of Us themes. The list also gave room for Friday the 13th Theme and Rasta Reggae Skull HiQ Dynamic Theme.
In the virtual reality world, Job Simulator surprisingly climbed the top. This interesting game features robots that have replaced all human jobs and it is up to the player to learn what it is like "to job" again. The list also included The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR, Fruit Ninja VR, PlayStation VR Worlds, and Batman: Arkham VR.
PS Vita top downloads included God of War, Persona 4, Need for Speed Most Wanted, PS All-Stars Battle Royale, and the Ratchet & Clank Collection. An indie title made the list as well - Salt and Sanctuary.
For PS Classic titles, it came as no surprise that Rockstar Games owned the list as three different GTA titles made the list along with Bully. Two Destroy All Humans! games fell off the classics list as well as Twisted Metal: Black.
