One year later, gazillions of awards, and still people can't get enough of Frozen's power ballad.
Case in point: Meet John Storms. A family man, tech professional, and Christmas enthusiast living in Round Rock, Texas. For years, he's delighted children (and probably annoyed neighbors) with his high-tech outdoor Christmas light displays that he magically syncs up to music. Mostly Christmas tunes, but occasionally radio singles and the occasional audio track from movies. (National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation is a favorite.)
Storms has made local and national news many times over for his complex-yet-sublime Christmas lights. This year, he's burning up YouTube with a video of his 2014 display set to Idina Menzel's signature song from Frozen: "Let It Go." Even if you're fed up with Frozen mania and too jaded to ever listen to another Disney song, you have to admit this is extremely cool.
Here's something that's actually more impressive than the light show itself: The entire display is, as Mr. Storms puts it, so "ultra green" that his electricity bill for the entire holiday season is just $6. We'd love to know how he pulled off that feat, but he's not sharing his trade secrets.
We'd also like to know how he justifies the cactus.
There's just one little problem that comes with having a fantastic outdoor light show that's hugely popular, and you've probably already guessed what it is: traffic! Storms runs his own website and Facebook page about his annual lights, and he must get a ton of inquiries about where his house is located, because he's posted notices like this one several times.
In other words: "We'd like to run the music and lights all the time, but the police say no."
The "Let It Go" video has pulled in over 2.6 million views on YouTube at the time of this writing, so at least he's got that $6 covered.
If you enjoyed the "Let It Go" video, he's also done one for "Do You Want To Build A Snowman?"
