Atlus Unveils 'Catherine: Full Body' For PlayStation 4, PS Vita

Atlus surprises fans of its strange puzzle platformer with a remake announcement intended for the PlayStation 4 and PS Vita called Catherine: Full Body.

The publisher's recent reveal is expected to attract fans that were able to complete the original game but wanted more. News about the remake has reportedly leaked ahead of its official reveal on Famitsu's weekly magazine.

The game will also be featured in a Niconico live stream scheduled for Dec. 22, at 7:30 p.m. Japan time, which is around 5:30 a.m. Eastern time in the United States.

Publisher And Producer

The leaked announcement also confirms that Catherine: Full Body will be helmed by Katsura Hashino, the producer and director of the original PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 title back in 2011.

Studio Zero, the current developer of the remastered title, is developing the puzzle platformer alongside a new RPG called Project Re Fantasy, which seems like a break from Atlus' usual Persona and Shin Megami Tensei series of games. The developers are expected to inject a touch of Atlus' unique style into the upcoming game as well.

New Content

Similar to other remastered games from older consoles, Catherine: Full Body is confirmed to ship with new content, a report from PlayStation Lifestyle indicated. Furthermore, the PlayStation 4 and PS Vita versions will surprise gamers with the introduction of a new heroine to the story, who will apparently compete with Katherine and Catherine, the original two female lead characters.

Atlus confirms that brand new story elements and cutscenes will be added to the remastered title.

New Features

More information shared by Polygon further reveals that the new character will be a girl named Rin. New mechanics intended to switch up the puzzles' challenges will be in place along with new difficulty settings.

Unlike the original version of the game that only featured a single-player mode, Catherine: Full Body will introduce a brand new online multiplayer mode. It is currently unknown how the new option will function with other players, but gamers can expect it to be highlighted during the stream scheduled for this week.

Gameplay Mechanics

For those who have not played the original PS3 version, the game is divided into day and night scenarios. During daytime, Vincent, the game's main protagonist, will have to make decisions in order to save his relationships with the different heroines, which is somewhat similar to Atlus' Persona series.

Night time brings about the puzzle platformer portion of the game wherein players must navigate a labyrinth of boxes in the shortest amount of time possible.

Catherine: Full Body is expected to be an exclusive title for PlayStation 4 and PS Vita. The official release has yet to be announced by Atlus.
