WATCH: New 'Far Cry 5' Trailer Focuses On The Resistance

Fans of Ubisoft's open-world shooter are in for a treat as new trailers and footage of Far Cry 5 preview The Resistance, weapons, and more.

Now that Assassin's Creed: Origins is out of the way, the French developer shifts its focus to promote its upcoming game from the Far Cry franchise. While some of the older trailers gave players a sample of the gameplay and environment, the latest one for of the popular first-person-shooter showcases some of the new characters encountered by the player during the single-player campaign.

They are reportedly part of a group who call themselves The Resistance. These individuals will help the player combat the Eden's Gate cult, similar to the previous installments of the game. A report suggests that more territories liberated could mean more members will join the cause in Far Cry 5.

Fighting Back Against The Man

It seems like the mechanics required to unlock certain members of The Resistance is to liberate outposts. The new Far Cry 5 trailer shows that each character might have a special ability or two and a signature weapon that might prove handy during a fight.

Once some of the locals have returned to their homes after liberating their area, players can approach up to two NPCs and choose to recruit them as guns-for-hire. Having two other players help can make clearing outposts much easier than going solo.

Tools Of The Trade

Just like the aforementioned NPCs and their special loadouts, players will likewise be able to choose from a wide variety of weapons. These include assault rifles, grenade launchers, flamethrowers, sniper rifles, and more.

Different vehicles are also available at your disposal to make travel easier across the large open-world environments.

Local Wildlife Hazard

Similar to older installments of the Far Cry series, players can encounter different animals during their journey. These can range from docile farm creatures to the aggressive predators like bears, mountain lions, and wolverines. Gamers might even encounter some creatures duking it out in the wilderness, Gamespot noted.

Enemy Encounters

Ubisoft has always taken players to exotic places in the previous games. Now, the location is set in rural Montana and the expansive areas give gamers several options on how to engage the enemy.

High-powered weapons and vehicles can often help make combat fun, but with everyone on high alert, the enemy fire might also pack a punch. The vast landscape and vantage points will also permit for a stealth approach. Having members of The Resistance tag along can also complete missions quicker.

Silent weapons like the bow and arrow can take out sentries without raising the alarm, which makes Infiltration much easier with the enemy unaware.

Far Cry 5 is scheduled to launch for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC on March 27, 2018.
