It is still a long way off until Rockstar Games' Red Dead Redemption 2 launches, but some gamers recently discovered clues reveal more about the open-world western title.
The hints indicate that there will be some game-related rewards hidden within GTA Online "The Doomsday Heist" update. The data mining group known as The Guru Team discovered the content, which references the sequel set to launch next year.
Along with the new mission tied to the western title, the team revealed that there are some new aircrafts and cars included in the update as well. Just like the previously released heists, players will be able to enjoy new co-op missions, weapons, and a jetpack
A Box, A Mission, And A Gun
VG24/7 noted that in-game assets for The Doomsday Heist show a chest with the label Boles Overland Stagecoach co. Supposedly, the name was also seen in some of the recently shared screenshots for Red Dead Redemption 2. Furthermore, a new GTA Online mission objective embedded in the code seemingly refers to a challenge and its reward.
"Because sometimes revenge is a dish best served six times, in quick succession, right between the eyes," reads the mission objective.
The files also point to a weapon described as a golden revolver.
The Mission and the Team
The credibility of the uncovered information appears to be solid as Kotaku pointed out The Guru Team's past achievement. Earlier this year, the same group reportedly solved the game's alien mystery.
Breaking down the new content's code unravels the mission's requirements. It tasks players to travel to 20 different locations all around the map. Coordinates for these spots were also included in the extracted data.
Some gamers have apparently started traveling to these areas and speculated that the mission might eventually resolve one of the game's prevailing myths regarding an unmarked grave. So far, all the clues appear to be pointing exactly towards that conclusion, according to the data miners.
The data miners are aware that the code for The Doomsday Heist is not yet final. As of writing, Rockstar Games has not officially confirmed any of the newly discovered elements.
However, all of the collected clues and data somehow points toward Red Dead Redemption 2. Data mining experts like Spider-Vice, The Guru Team, and Wildbrick all have excellent track records when it comes to information regarding GTA Online.
