OnePlus is giving fans the opportunity to see the OnePlus 5T in the flesh at a big unveiling event in New York.
Typically, smartphone makers usually reserve seats for the media and, for want of a better word, "important" people, but the Chinese company is shaking things up, though it comes with a price — $40, to be exact.
OnePlus 5T Goes Official
First and foremost, the OnePlus 5T will be unveiled at 11 a.m. ET or 8 a.m. PT on Nov. 16 in Brooklyn, New York. It's being promoted with the tag line "a new view."
The best part is, OnePlus will start selling the anticipated handset after a few days on Nov. 21 in North America and Europe. For the record, it's going to go on sale on Nov. 28 in India and Dec. 1 in China.
Attending The OnePlus 5T Event
Starting on Nov. 8, fans who want to be there to see OnePlus unwrap the OnePlus 5T can buy a $40 ticket on the company's launch page.
Sure, that seems a bit expensive just to get an early look at the smartphone, but according to Android Police, who got in touch with OnePlus, attendees will get $70 worth of goodies. What exactly they're going to get wasn't specified, though.
For those who can't make it or those who simply don't want to fork over $40 for the ticket, they can catch the livestream of the shindig on the event page or YouTube channel of OnePlus.
The Details So Far
At the moment, not much is known about the OnePlus 5T, except that it has a headphone jack. Needless to say, that could be one of the many features of the smartphone that'll drive sales, especially with the industry-wide trend of removing the port going on.
Also, about $600 will possibly be "enough" to buy one, which comes straight from the horse's mouth, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau himself (via Phone Arena). That more or less aligns with the company's pricing strategy, where it slaps on midrange tags on its flagships, such as the case with the $539 OnePlus 5 that comes with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of native storage.
Now it's also worth mentioning that OnePlus 5T renders made rounds online recently, showing off a bezel-less design and curved glass display. Interestingly, it was rumored to launch on Nov. 16 at the time, which has now been confirmed.
