Sony has revealed the free games that will be offered to PlayStation Plus subscribers for September 2017, a batch that is headlined by inFamous: Second Son for the PlayStation 4 and RIGS: Mechanized Combat League for the PlayStation VR.
The collection of free games will not be refreshed until Sept. 5 though, so there is still time for PS Plus subscribers to download the free PS Plus games for August 2017.
PlayStation Plus Free Games September 2017
In an official PlayStation blog post, Sony revealed that headlining the PlayStation Plus free games for September is inFamous: Second Son, an open-world action adventure story that continued the inFamous franchise when it was released in 2014. The game puts players in the role of Delsin Rowe, who discovers that he has extraordinary powers in a world where superhumans have become feared. InFamous: Second Son should not be confused with inFamous: First Light, a stand-alone expansion that was part of the PlayStation Plus free games line-up in 2015.
The other free PlayStation 4 game for September is Strike Vector Ex, a first-person aerial combat game that was originally released for the PC. The title was redesigned for console-based controls and improved with new features and modes when it arrived to the PlayStation 4 last year.
For PlayStation 3 gamers, the free titles for September are Truck Racer and Handball 2016. Ironically, PlayStation Plus subscribers can guess what both games are all about from their titles. Truck Racer places players behind the wheel of trucks zooming at top speeds and Handball 2016 gives players a way to enjoy the sport virtually.
PlayStation Vita owners, meanwhile, will be able to download We Are Doomed and Hatoful Boyfriend for free next month, with both games as cross-buy titles with the PlayStation 4. We Are Doomed is a twin-stick polygon shooter, while Hatoful Boyfriend is a bizarre visual novel featuring the only human student in a school of pigeons.
It should be noted that Sony initially released the wrong PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita games that will be offered for free next month. The first version of the blog post mistakenly stated that the free PlayStation 3 games will be Monster Jam Battlegrounds and Hustle Kings, while the free PlayStation Vita games will be Hue and Sky Force Anniversary.
PlayStation VR For PlayStation Plus
Starting September, PlayStation Plus subscribers will also be able to download the PlayStation VR launch game RIGS: Mechanized Combat League for free. RIGS is a first-person title that immerses players in a futuristic sport that combines elements from various fields such as basketball, football, motorsports, and combat sports.
RIGS can be downloaded for free until Nov. 7. For PlayStation 4 owners who have not yet purchased the headset, Sony has recently released a new PlayStation VR bundle for $399 that essentially makes the PlayStation Camera, previously sold separately for $59, free.
