Secret of Mana, considered one of the best RPGs of all time, will receive a full 3D remake and will be released to the PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and PC.
Earlier this year, Square Enix released the first three games in the Seiken Densetsu series, which includes Secret of Mana, for the Nintendo Switch in Japan. Who would have thought that the collection was a prelude to a Secret of Mana remake?
Secret Of Mana Remake Coming To PS4, PS Vita, PC
The Secret of Mana 3D remake, unveiled through an announcement trailer and a PlayStation Blog post, will be an injection of nostalgia for fans of the classic RPG and a whimsical welcome for newcomers to the franchise.
The Secret of Mana remake will faithfully follow the story of Randi, Primm, and Popoi fighting back against an empire to reclaim the power of Mana and save the world. In the remake, the story will be spiced up as the three heroes and many other characters will receive voiceovers, with the game also to feature a newly arranged soundtrack that is inspired by that of the original game. It is unclear, however, if the Western release of the remake will also have English voices or Japanese audio.
In terms of gameplay, the Secret of Mana 3D remake will still use a top-down view, but with improved 3D graphics and controls to maintain the same sense of adventure as Secret of Mana for the SNES. The remake will also have a local multiplayer feature for up to three players at a time.
Secret Of Mana 3D Remake Preorder Bonuses
Players who preorder the Secret of Mana remake on the PlayStation Network will be able to receive bonuses, starting with individual PSN avatars featuring Randi, Primm and Popoi. Upon the launch of the game, players will also receive DLC costumes of Moogle Suits for the three heroes, the Tiger Two-Piece for Primm, and Tiger Suits for Randi and Popoi.
Meanwhile, for players who preorder the Secret of Mana remake on Steam, the bonuses include the costumes plus a special wallpaper. The bonuses, however, will also be available for the Day 1 Edition of the game, which will be available for a week after its launch.
Players will not have to wait long for the Secret of Mana 3D remake, as it is set to launch on Feb. 15, 2018.
The Rise Of Remakes
Remakes and remasters are currently all the rage in the video game industry, with the success of the Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy one of the best examples of the trend.
Square Enix, meanwhile, is also working on the Final Fantasy VII Remake, as the company looks to bring one of the best games of all time into the modern age.
