Rocket League, which will arrive to the Nintendo Switch in the holiday season, will feature new battle-cars that can only be accessed in the version for the hybrid console.
Developer Psyonix teamed up with Nintendo to create Rocket League battle-cars with Super Mario and Metroid Prime themes, and we can't wait to try them out.
Rocket League For Nintendo Switch Exclusive Cars
When Rocket League Nintendo Switch version was announced in the Nintendo Direct presentation at E3 2017, it was revealed that there will be exclusive items coming to the iteration of the game for the hybrid console.
Psyonix has kept its promise, as it revealed through an official blog post that Super Mario and Metroid Prime battle-cars will be coming to Rocket League for the Nintendo Switch.
The team color decides the version of the exclusive Nintendo battle-cars that will appear. Players for the Orange team will use vehicles inspired by Mario and Samus's Gunship, while players for the Blue team will use vehicles inspired by Luigi and a classic color variation of Samus's Varia Suit. The image of the Blue team's Metroid Prime vehicle is not shown, but Samus's Zero Suit is the likely inspiration for the car.
Unlocking the Nintendo Switch-exclusive battle-cars will be free, but they will not be made available right away. Players will need to achieve certain requirements to unlock the vehicles, but Psyonix has not yet revealed what these requirements are.
In addition to the new battle-cars, Rocket League for the Nintendo Switch will feature other customization items that are exclusive to the hybrid console. The Mario and Luigi toppers can be attached to any customizable vehicle in the game, and there will be a Super Star Rocket Boost for the Mario and Luigi cars and a Wave Beam Rocket Boost for the Samus's Gunship vehicle.
Unfortunately, players on the Xbox One and PC, when linked to a Nintendo Switch user through cross-platform play, will not see these exclusive vehicles. Instead, they will see the Octane car for the Super Mario vehicles and the Breakout car for the Metroid Prime vehicles.
Nintendo Switch Holiday Season
Nintendo is preparing for what it expects to be a busy holiday shopping season, as the Nintendo Switch continues to be in high demand.
Nintendo said that it will be improving its production system to meet the expected Nintendo Switch demand from autumn and beyond, as the hybrid console is primed to become an even better gift once Super Mario Odyssey is released in October and Rocket League follows.
