Microsoft has unveiled the free Games with Gold that Xbox Live Gold subscribers will be able to download for September 2017 for the Xbox One and Xbox 360.
The free Games with Gold for September 2017 are Forza Motorsport 5, Oxenfree, Hydro Thunder Hurricane, and Battlefield 3.
Xbox Games With Gold For September 2017
The free Xbox Games with Gold for September 2017 is headlined by Forza Motorsport 5, a launch game for the Xbox One when it was released in 2013. The game will be available for download for the whole month.
The version of the title that will be offered under the Games with Gold program is the Forza Motorsport 5: Racing Game of the Year Edition, which has a regular retail price of $39.99 and includes a Top Gear DLC that adds another 10 vehicles to the roster.
The timing of the game being offered as a free Games with Gold title is odd considering that Forza Motorsport 7 is expected to headline the release of the Xbox One X. However, despite being a 4-year-old game, Forza Motorsport 5 is still fun to play and could serve as a primer for the arrival of Forza Motorsport 7.
The next game offered for next month's Games with Gold is Oxenfree, a dialogue-driven supernatural adventure game for the Xbox One that sells for $19.99. It will be available for download from Sept. 16 to Oct. 15.
The last two titles for Games with Gold next month are Hydro Thunder Hurricane and Battlefield 3 for the Xbox 360. Hydro Thunder Hurricane is an arcade speedboat racer that sells for $9.99 and will be available from Sept. 1 to Sept. 15, while Battlefield 3 is a predecessor of popular first-person-shooter Battlefield 1 that sells for $19.99 and will be available from Sept. 16 to Sept. 30.
Both Hydro Thunder Hurricane and Battlefield 3 can also be played on the Xbox One, as the two titles are supported by the console's Backward Compatibility feature.
Trials Fusion, the latest entry in the motorcycle platformer series that was offered under Xbox Games with Gold for August 2017, will also still be available until Sept. 15.
Xbox One X Incoming
The titles offered under Games with Gold for September 2017 should help pass the time until the arrival of the Xbox One X, which will be released on Nov. 7.
Preorders for the Xbox One X have already started, through the availability of the limited day-one edition known as the Project Scorpio Edition have mostly run out.
