Asus Makes The ZenFone 4 Series Official, And They’re All About Dual Cameras: Should You Buy One?

Asus has finally unveiled the evolution of its ZenFone range of smartphones, and they're all equipped with dual cameras.

There are six models in total: the ZenFone 4, ZenFone 4 Pro, ZenFone 4 Max, ZenFone 4 Max Pro, ZenFone 4 Selfie, and ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro. These devices were leaked last week via the company's French website, so they're not much of a surprise anymore.

Take note: All models, except for the selfie-focused ones, feature dual cameras on the back. The selfie models have dual front-facing cameras for high-quality — you guessed it — selfies.

ZenFone 4 Specs

ZenFone 4, the base model, comes with 12-megapixel dual cameras, one of which features a 120-degree angle view for wide-angle shots. It sports a 5.5-inch IPS display, is powered by either Qualcomm's Snapdragon 660 or 630 chip, has either 4 or 6 GB of RAM, has 64 GB of internal storage, and features an 8-megapixel front-facing shooter. It is powered by a 3,300 mAh battery.

ZenFone 4 Pro Specs

The ZenFone 4 Pro comes with better specs, sporting a sweet 5.5-inch AMOLED display. It packs a Snapdragon 835 chip, which is the industry's best. This phone packs 3,600 mAh of battery capacity, has 6 GB RAM, and up to 128 GB of onboard storage.

ZenFone 4 Max And ZenFone 4 Max Pro Specs

Like the base ZenFone 4, the ZenFone 4 Max Pro features dual cameras. It sports a 5.5-inch IPS display, is powered by either a Snapdragon 430 or 425 chip, has 2 or 3 GB of RAM, has 32 GB of internal storage, and features 16-megapixel front and dual rear-facing cameras. It also doesn't skimp on battery, as the phone boasts 5,000 mAh.

The base ZenFone 4 Max model is pretty much the same as its Max Pro counterpart, but with lower 13-megapixel dual rear-facing cameras and a lower 8-megapixel front-facing shooter. But you still get the same capacity as its Max Pro sibling.

ZenFone 4 Selfie And ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro Specs

Now, on to the selfie models. The ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro features Asus's 24-megapixel DuoPixel technology, which simply means 12 megapixels for each sensor. One camera is a 120-degree wide-angle shooter. Oh, and they can capture 4K video. We don't know exactly what good a 4K selfie camera will do, but we're not complaining.

Meanwhile, the ZenFone 4 Selfie features an even larger 20-megapixel front-facing camera and a second front-facing 8-megapixel shooter that also boasts a 120-degree wide-angle lens.

Both selfie models feature 16-megapixel rear cameras, but only the pro version can record 4K video. In terms of specs, the ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro packs a Snapdragon 625 chip, while the ZenFone 4 Selfie has a slightly less powerful Snapdragon 430 chip.
