Electronic Arts will show off the highly anticipated space battles of Star Wars Battlefront II at the upcoming Gamescom.
Star Wars Battlefront II holds the title as the most viewed game from E3 2017 on YouTube, and the introduction of multiplayer space battles is one of the reasons why players are very excited for the upcoming title.
Star Wars Battlefront II Space Battles First Look
In a blog post, Electronic Arts said that Star Wars Battlefront II will be featured at Gamescom 2017, which will be held from Aug. 23 to Aug. 26 in Cologne, Germany. According to the publisher, there will be a "never-before-seen" trailer for the upcoming title.
The first look at the gameplay of the game's Starfighter Assault mode, including multiplayer space battles, will be shown off at Gamescom. Players will be able to watch the gameplay reveal before Gamescom itself though, at Aug. 21, 9:30 a.m. PT, through a livestream that can be accessed at the official Electronic Arts website.
The live gameplay reveal will see two Star Wars Game Changers teams play against each other in a "multi-stage original trilogy-era space battle," which sounds like an awesome way to introduce the space combat of Star Wars Battlefront II. The livestream will show players their first glimpse of the game's starfighter combat, which offers superior controls, deep customization options, and role-based team play with a new class-based system.
According to Electronic Arts, the two teams will face off against each other in a space battle in the Fondor: Imperial Shipyard map, with the players flying through an Imperial Star Destroyer as other spacecraft, including unique hero ships zoom around them.
Space battles in Star Wars Battlefront II are a big deal because they were missing in Star Wars Battlefront, which was primarily a multiplayer game. Star Wars Battlefront II will feature space combat created by Criterion, the studio behind Need for Speed and Burnout, alongside a multiplayer mode developed by DICE and a single-player campaign by new studio Motive.
Star Wars Battlefront II To Launch Nov. 17
Star Wars Battlefront II, which will launch on Nov. 17 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, was unveiled in April at this year's Star Wars Celebration. It was revealed that the game will have a single-player campaign that will revolve around Iden Versio, the commander of the Imperial Special Forces unit known as the Inferno Squad.
Electronic Arts will look to rebound from the disappointment of Star Wars Battlefront with Star Wars Battlefront II, and with space battles included, the sequel is already off to a great start.
