Nintendo recently unveiled a Dusk Form of Alolan Pokémon Lycanroc, but it never quite shared how players will be able to obtain it. Now it has spilled the beans as to how, but you must hurry if you want to get it.
The Dusk Form Lycanroc is a third version of the Rock-type wolf Pokémon in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, iterative sequels to last year's Sun and Moon, out in November.
Nintendo has now confirmed that this form of Lycanroc can't simply be obtained via trading, downloading, or whatsoever. Instead, players who will purchase a copy of Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon will be granted its pre-evolved form, Rockruff, which can evolve into Dusk Form. Previously, Rockruff would evolve into either its Midday or Midnight Form depending on whether you have Sun or Moon.
But you need to hurry: Nintendo will only offer the free Rockruff from the day both games launch until Jan. 10, 2018. You basically you have a two-month window to get the special Rockruff, so better keep this in mind.
Nintendo also explained that players can only obtain this Rockruff on Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon — players with Sun and Moon are stuck to the Pokémon's Midday and Midnight Forms. Nintendo plans to announce more details on how obtain the Dusk Form Lycanroc "soon."
Dusk Form Lycanroc
Dusk Form Lycanroc, like its Midday and Midnight Forms, is also a pure Rock-type Pokémon, able to learn both Accelerock and Counter, two moves that are associated with the Midday and Midnight Forms. It has the Tough Claws ability, which raises the damage of attacks that make direct contact with the opposing Pokémon.
When Will 'Pokémon Ultra Sun' And 'Ultra Moon' Launch?
Both Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon will launch this Nov. 17, a year after Sun and Moon launched. Like the previous two games, Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon will be for the 3DS, which many were disappointed upon its announcement.
Before Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon were announced for Nintendo's handheld console, there was much hype surrounding a new Pokémon entry for Nintendo's other console on the rise, the Switch. Many expected Game Freak to unveil remastered versions of Sun and Moon, called "Stars," for the Switch, but no such announcement came.
During its E3 presentation this past June, The Pokémon Company confirmed that Game Freak was currently developing a new core RPG-style Pokémon game for the Switch, which came as a great relief to fans fearing it would never release such a game for the Switch seeing that it's not technically just a handheld device.
Another Pokémon title, Pokkén Tournament, a port of the Wii U original, comes out for the Switch late September.
