Nintendo Switch owners have probably been waiting for more games to be released for the hybrid console. It would not even be a surprise if they set an alarm for the June 13 Nintendo session at the E3 Press Conference.
The good news is that Electronic Arts has already announced its newest game specifically built to complement the Nintendo Switch console's features — and it is none other than FIFA 18, which is scheduled for release on Sept. 29.
Fans of the FIFA game series may have to calm down a bit, however, because the Nintendo Switch version is not an exact replica of the XBOX, PlayStation, and PC versions of the game. The most noticeable differences between FIFA 18 for Switch and other versions has to do with graphics and game features, but this is mostly because EA focused on maximizing the features Nintendo's console could offer.
Here are the other things you need to know about FIFA for Nintendo Switch.
Game Engine And Image Quality
It has already been mentioned that FIFA 18 for Switch doesn't run on Frostbite game engine, but it doesn't mean the visuals are bad. Following Switch's own technical specifications, the game's graphics will be at 1080p when the console is docked, and 720p in handheld mode. It will not make eyeballs melt from amazing graphics, but it's not bad either.
Flexible Controls
Nintendo Switch prides itself in being a 2-in-1 console, so EA made sure to make full use of its design. Gamers can play FIFA 18 using all available controllers that Switch can offer. Yes, that means the game can be played using one or both Joy-Cons and the Pro Controller, depending on whether the Switch is docked or in its portable handheld or tabletop mode.
"IFA 18 on Nintendo Switch is the best FIFA you can take with you anywhere, play anytime and with anyone ... We're delivering the immersive and authentic experience that fans expect from FIFA while leveraging innovative ways to play both at home and on the go with Nintendo Switch," producer Andrei Lăzărescu expressed.
Standard Gameplay
FIFA 17's story mode featuring Alex Hunter was popular among its players but, while FIFA 18 continues the story in XBOX, PlayStation, and PC, Nintendo Switch will not be seeing Alex anywhere in the game.
According to the EA website, FIFA 18 for Switch will have the following modes: Kick Off, Local Seasons (online and offline), Ultimate Team, and Career.
That seems few when compared with the other versions, but EA did promise a lot more depth in all the available modes for the Switch version.
Gamers who want the full FIFA 18 experience should probably opt for the XBOX, PlayStation, and PC versions of the game. Those who just want to play anytime and anywhere would be happy with the Switch version.
