For PC users, there is no better time of the year than Steam's big seasonal sales. The Summer, Fall and Holiday sales are the biggest events of their kind in all of gaming: nearly every game in Steam's massive library is hugely discounted, including recently-released games. It's easily the best possible deal one can find in gaming; the only problem is, Steam is typically pretty hush-hush about when the sales actually start.
While Valve was most likely expecting this year's Fall sale to be a surprise for fans, PayPal had other things in mind. Subscribers to PayPal's newsletter were surprised to find that the Steam Fall Sale's opening day had been revealed...ahead of Valve's official announcement.
Going by PayPal's promotion, the Steam Fall Sale is set to begin on Nov. 26 - in other words, tomorrow. The Fall Sale is essentially Steam's version of Black Friday, except that the sale lasts for a week and you don't have to spend time waiting in a crowded shopping mall to take advantage of it.
Of course, Valve has yet to say anything about the sale, as is the typical developer response. If the PayPal listing is accurate, it's not like fans have much longer to wait for the sale to begin, and considering how many great games have been released in the past few weeks alone, gamers can expect to empty out their Steam wallets soon.
After the Fall Sale has come to a close, it'll only be a few weeks before the Holiday Sale - Steam's annual Christmas event. If anything, the Fall Sale could be considered an appetizer: it's full of great deals, no one's arguing that, but the Holiday Sale is on an entirely different level.
