An unannounced Samsung Galaxy A4 (2017) smartphone has apparently received its Wi-Fi certification, which means it could soon hit the market.
Most Samsung rumors recently have focused on the upcoming Galaxy Note 8 flagship and the upper-midrange Galaxy J series, but the company apparently has more handsets in the works.
Samsung has never been too shy about flooding the market with a slew of devices to suit all tastes, preferences, needs, and budgets, aiming to cover everything from the low-cost to the high-end spectrum to offer something for everyone.
Samsung Galaxy A4 (2017)
This purported Samsung Galaxy A4 (2017) seems to be designed for the midrange segment of the smartphone market, but not all details are available yet in terms of specifications. The device has surfaced on Weibo (via The Leaker) after it received its Wi-Fi certification and it sports model number SM-A450F. The leak lists many of the smartphone's core specifications but fails to mention spec details such as processor type.
The handset seems to have a similar design to the Samsung Galaxy A3 (2017), complete with a physical home button below the display, serving as a fingerprint scanner as well.
Samsung Galaxy A4 (2017) Specs
The leak reveals that the upcoming Galaxy A4 (2017) will sport a 5-inch Super AMOLED display (unspecified resolution, but likely full HD), 3 GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel main camera with an f/1.9 aperture, 32 GB of internal storage space, microSD support for up to 256 GB of external storage. Other specs include a 3,000 mAh battery, fast charging, USB Type-C, Bluetooth 4.1, NFC, fingerprint reader, and Android 7.1 Nougat on board out of the box. The leak makes no mention of the front camera or the processor, but the latter will likely be a quad-core Exynos offering.
The smartphone is also expected to sport the Samsung Experience UI (formerly known as TouchWiz) on top of Android, offering a number of neat software features. The new Samsung Galaxy S8 flagship features the same Experience UI, but that doesn't mean that all Galaxy S8 features will be available on the Galaxy A4 too.
Galaxy A4 Coming Soon?
No information is currently available as to when Samsung might plan to launch this Galaxy A4 (2017), in what markets it plans to sell it, or how much the device will cost when it's ready to hit store shelves. Considering that it features midrange specifications with nothing outstanding, the smartphone should launch at an affordable price point.
Nevertheless, the fact that it already received the necessary Wi-Fi certification indicates that it might not be long until we get some official details about the device. The Galaxy A4 (2017) might not make it to all markets, but it will likely make it to the United States. With no availability details available yet, however, it's all pretty hazy for now.
As always, we'll keep you up to date as soon as more information becomes available, but it's best to take all leaks and rumors with a hefty grain of salt until Samsung makes a formal announcement.
