First 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Trailer Lands In Theaters This Friday...For A Limited Time

Anticipation for the next installment in the Star Wars saga is at a fever pitch, and it looks like Disney knows it. Just a few weeks after Disney announced the official subtitle of the film as 'The Force Awakens,' a long-rumored trailer is on the way.

But this isn't a regular trailer. Disney knows fans will do anything to catch a first glimpse at Star Wars: Episode VII, so they've announced the film's first trailer will run in front of all movies this Thanksgiving weekend only at nine select theaters across the country. Below are the theater locations:

CA Irvine - Edwards Irvine Spectrum 22 & IMAX

CA San Diego - Edwards Mira Mesa Stadium 18 IMAX & RPX

GA Atlanta - Regal Atlantic Station Stadium 18 IMAX & RPX

IL Chicago - Regal City North Stadium 14 IMAX & RPX

NY New York - Regal Union Square Stadium 14

PA Warrington - Regal Warrington Crossing Stadium 22 & IMAX

TN Knoxville - Regal Pinnacle Stadium 18 IMAX & RPX

TX Houston - Edwards Houston Marq'E Stadium 23 IMAX & RPX

WA Seattle - Regal Thornton Place Stadium 14 & IMAX

No doubt movie ticket sales at the above locations will skyrocket, but what about all the legions of Star Wars fans who don't live near one of these theaters? No word yet on when the trailer will officially hit the web, but it seems almost a certainty that a low-quality cellphone video of the trailer will be uploaded to the Internet around the same time. Hopefully Disney realizes this and will release the trailer to the masses this weekend or shortly after the trailer leaves theaters.

It remains to be seen what the trailer will actually include. Since the film is still a year out and principal photography wrapped only a few weeks ago, rumor has it the trailer will be a brief affair, cutting between quick looks at all the film's characters before concluding with the Millenium Falcon flying at the screen. Whatever it will be, fans won't have to wait much longer to find out.
