Star Wars comics from Marvel are on their way, among them a brand new look at the Galactic Civil War from inside the iconic helmet of Darth Vader himself.
Star Wars: Darth Vader #1 will be written by Kieron Gillen and feature art from Salvador Larroca, as the two dive deeper into the world of Darth Vader and his war with the Rebel Alliance. The comic will pick up after the destruction of the Death Star in Star Wars: A New Hope and will also serve as a continuation of the events featured in Marvel's Star Wars #1.
Judging from the preview pages debuted by Marvel, it looks like Vader pays a visit to Jabba the Hutt, no doubt working out some kind of deal to capture Han Solo. Larroca's art is spot-on, perfectly capturing the look of the films and delivering a truly intimidating Darth Vader. Check out the preview below:
StarWars.com also revealed a special (stunning) variant cover for the first issue by legendary artist Alex Ross, along with debuting the cover of the Star Wars: The Original Years Omnibus Vol 2.
All this Darth Vader goodness does come at a price. The first issue of the comic, out in February, will be $4.99, but issue #2 will revert to the usual comic price tag of $3.99. It's no secret Darth Vader #1 will sell well (the first issue even more so), and Marvel knows it. Marvel also knows that despite gripes, fans and collectors will shell out and extra dollar for the first issue without hesitation. It's a bit of a bummer, but hey, it's Star Wars. You know you are going to buy it no matter what.
