Long-running Space MMO EVE Online is known for an obsessive fanbase and some massive space battles, but for those who don't play, it can be difficult to explain the game's appeal.
That's the problem developer CCP has faced during the game's 11 years on the market. How do you show potential players what EVE Online is all about? The answer is by highlighting the real players that call EVE Online home and who bring the game to life with their epic space battles, daring raids and savvy skills. And that's what this fantastic trailer, titled "This is EVE," is all about. Be warned, there is some NSFW language included in this uncensored video featuring the audio of real EVE players.
In September CCP asked players to submit some of their most memorable voice communications from playing the game. From those, the developer then crafted this spellbinding trailer to advertise the game's 14-day free trial.
The results are fantastic. It's all in-game footage, though many of the space battles are portrayed from some more cinematic camera angles than what the game is usually played from. The trailer focuses on a number of different player groups as they embark on dangerous missions. Hearing the real voices of players being briefed before an assault, listening to leaders shout out commands and cheering along with players after a victory (or a narrow escape) makes for a trailer that is hard not to watch in its entirety. It might even make me sign up for that free trial.
