Black Friday is less than a week away, and if you listen closely, you can almost hear the horde of early-morning shoppers closing in on the horizon. Christmas 2014 is going to be the biggest holiday season ever for video games, and stores around the country are preparing for the wave of shoppers coming in next Friday.
Wal-Mart is no different: the mega-store always has a massive sale on Black Friday, and for 2014, everything is about the next-generation consoles. The retailer is offering huge discounts on everything from Microsoft to Sony to Nintendo, though some of the best video game deals can be lost amongst the sheer number of other sales. To make sure that you can find the best presents this Black Friday, we've gone ahead and made a guide to Wal-Mart's best gaming deals.
First and foremost, Wal-Mart's Xbox One deals: Microsoft started off strong by announcing that they'd chop $50 off the price of the Xbox One, but Wal-Mart is taking it a step further. Any Xbox One console bundled with Halo: The Master Chief Collection is only $329, plus you get a $30 Wal-Mart gift card with it. There are other bundles, but the Halo deal is the only one with the gift card included, making it a great choice for everyone.
Sony's deals may be a touch more expensive, but that doesn't mean they're not worth looking at. A standard PlayStation 4 will still cost you $399 before Black Friday begins, but Wal-Mart's throwing in a $50 gift card for anyone who's shopping early. Once Black Friday begins, the sales go big: a PlayStation 4 with The Last of Us and Grand Theft Auto V will only cost you $399, and the same bundle with two additional games is only $449 (though the second deal is online-only).
For Nintendo, the only item getting a discount is the New Super Mario Bros. 2 3DS bundle. It's a shame that only one of Nintendo's devices is getting any sort of attention this year, but at least the discount is good: the bundle would usually be over $200, but for Black Friday this year, the bundle is only going to cost you $149.96.
2014 is shaping up to be an absolutely massive year for gaming, and Wal-Mart may be leading the charge. For a listing of everything the store will have on sale, head over to their official site or this guide from IGN.
