Yet another alleged iPhone 8 schematic has leaked and shows no rear Touch ID, but a big circle at the back and the rumored vertically-lined dual cameras.
Rumors regarding the placement of the Touch ID on the iPhone 8 have been rampant. Reports suggest that Apple is facing difficulty embedding the fingerprint scanner under the device's display.
Several schematics of the alleged iPhone 8 have leaked online, some showed off the Touch ID at the back of the upcoming smartphone, some pointed to the sensor being located in the front (underneath the display), whereas some schematics did not reveal the Touch ID's placement at all.
iPhone 8 Schematic Leak: Fake Or Real?
The latest iPhone 8 schematic leak has been shared by three tipsters on Twitter, namely OnLeaks, KK Leaks, and Bejamin Geskin. OnLeaks and KK Leaks tweeted the photo only minutes apart, but Geskin was the first to share the image.
It is not known whether the leaked schematic is genuine or fake, so it is best to take the news with a grain of salt.
The leaked schematic shows the interior of the iPhone 8 and matches several previously-leaked images, schematics, and rumors. The leaked schematic shows off the vertical dual-camera setup, with the LED flash located in the center.
The image also shows a large circular area on smartphone's rear panel. However, the Touch ID is not visible on the rear of the alleged iPhone 8 design. It is supposed that the wide area on the rear panel is for wireless charging.
iPhone 8 Wireless Charging
It has been rumored for months that Apple is developing its own wireless charging technology and will incorporate the same in its tenth anniversary iPhone edition — dubbed iPhone 8 or iPhone X.
This is one of the first leaked schematics to show the upcoming iPhone 8 incorporating the rumored technology. However, the legitimacy of the images is questionable and, therefore, one would be wise to not believe the suppositions.
Apple is allegedly testing two prototypes of the iPhone 8. One of these — similar to the newly-leaked schematic — may feature an edge-to-edge display, as well as a stainless steel chassis with the Touch ID embedded underneath the screen.
On the other hand, the second prototype Apple is claimed to be testing may feature an aluminium chassis with the fingerprint button located at the rear of the smartphone. Nevertheless, it is unclear which prototype this newly-leaked schematic represents.
iPhone 8 Release
Based on the company's annual release cycle, Apple fans are expecting to see the new smartphone release by September this year. However, if Apple does not solve the Touch ID placement problem soon, the upcoming iPhone's launch could be postponed.
KGI Securities' analyst Ming-Chi Kuo asserted that the mass production of the smartphone could get delayed to October or November due to supply shortages.
