ChangeWave Research said most people who plan to buy a tablet within 3 months, prefer the iPad to other available brands. The study was conducted with a sample size of 25,000 individuals in the U.S.
Per the survey, 13 percent of the people surveyed, said they wanted to buy a tablet within the next 90 days and 75 percent of those who plan on buying tablets within 90 days, are looking to buy an iPad. It means around 2,340 people or 9 percent of the total number of respondents will soon purchase Apple's widely successful tablet.
"Apple continues to hold a tight grip on the next 90-day tablet demand," ChangeWave said. The survey reflects the market's warm reception to the release of Apple's iPad Air and the iPad mini. In particular, the new iPad mini's Retina Display as well as the $30 price drop on the original iPad mini will have a positive effect on consumers and rival tablet manufacturers Google, Samsung and Amazon will be hard pressed to keep up.
According to polls conducted in November, the Google Nexus and Samsung's Galaxy Tab suffered a drop of 3 percent and 4 percent respectively in the November poll, from 12 percent and 13 percent in August. However, Microsoft remains a strong contender with the Surface experiencing a rise from 7 percent to 8 percent.
ChangeWave also said that among potential iPad buyers, 55 percent wanted to buy iPad Air while 16 percent eyed the Retina iPad mini.
